Chapter 3 - Communication

Communication is one of the most important factors in thisgame. To allow for the best possible communication, the immortalshave coded several channels to allow your message to go to theintended audience. You also have the ability to shut off channelsyou do not want to use. For a list of all the channels availableto you, type "channel". To turn on a channel, type"chan +" and to turn off a channel, type"chan -". For instance, chan -chat wouldturn off chat channel. You can also turn off all channels at onceby typing "chan -all" and turn on all channels bytyping "chan +all".

The following is a list of channels, their purpose and how touse them. SAY - This is a channel used to talk to a person with whom youare in the same room. You type "say " or' to use.

TELL - This channel is used to talk to a single person, theydo not have to be in the same room with you. You type "tell0.[person] ". When a person sends a tell toyou, or a Someone tells to you, you may send a tell back to themby using "reply ". Warning! reply sendsa message to the last person who sends you a tell. So, if a tellscomes in while you are typing, your reply will go to that person,so use reply sparingly.

YELL - This channel is seen by other people in your area,those people who show up on "where" and have yellchannel on will hear your yell. To use, type "yell".

SHOUT - This channel is seen by anyone on the mud who has thechannel on You may use the channel by typing "shout".

CHAT - This is the most commonly used channel. The purpose ofthis channel is general chatter. This channel is heard by anyonewho has the channel on. To use, type "chat" or . .

MUSIC - This channel is used to recite lyrics from music youlike to listen to. This channel is heard by anyone who has thechannel on. To use, type "music ". Trynot to spam the channel with macro'd lyrics. Keep the languageCLEAN. You may use ONLY symbols to replace profanity, not lettersand symbols mixed.

QUEST - This channel is used to have quests or "mudgames". This channel is heard by anyone who has the channelon. To use, type "quest ".

ASK - This channel is used to ask and answer questions. Thischannel is heard by anyone who has the channel on. Type "ask" to ask a question and "answer" to answer a question.

SOCIAL - Also available to you are socials and emote. To get acomplete list of social commands, type "social". Anemote is a personalized social, starting with your name. Socialsand emotes are seen by all people in the room. To use a social,type "social" or "social [person]". To use anemote, type "emote " or ,.

GROUP - When you are grouped, you can talk to other members ofthe group by typing "gte " or ;.

CLAN - Once you join a clan, you also have a private clanchannel to talk to your fellow clan members. Each clan has theirown clantalk channel. To use, type "clan".

ORDER - Once you join an order, you also have a private orderchannel to talk to your order members. Each order has their ownordertalk channel. To use, type "ordertalk" or "ot "

COUNCIL - There are a few councils that now accept mortalmembers. To use counciltalk type "cou ".

WARTALK - This channel is seem by all players in Aethar, butis dedicated to bantering between pkill players. This channel hasall the same language and harassment laws as all other channels.To use the channel, type "war ".
